A man in his 80s from Gjøvik has been confirmed dead following a drowning incident in Vågslidvatn, Vinje, Telemark.

Emergency services were alerted around 11:14 AM on Saturday after a lifeless person was spotted in the water near a boat.

Bystanders attempted to rescue the man and brought him ashore, where lifesaving efforts were initiated.

Despite the quick response from police, fire services, and air ambulances, the man was pronounced dead at 12:14 PM.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, but the cause of the accident remains unclear.

The man's relatives have been notified of his passing.
