A tragic canoe accident occurred in Vansjø, Våler municipality, Østfold, where a man in his 40s is presumed dead after a canoe capsized on Thursday.

Despite extensive search efforts involving divers, drones, and helicopters, the man remained missing until Sunday when a body was discovered using sonar technology.

The police have informed the family, and an autopsy is planned to confirm the identity.

The search, which continued throughout the weekend, involved significant resources from local emergency services.

The other man in the canoe managed to swim to safety and alert authorities.
