A tragic drowning incident occurred at Sognsvann in Oslo on Thursday, August 1, 2024, around noon.

Emergency services responded quickly after reports of a drowning, but despite attempts at resuscitation, the adult victim was pronounced dead shortly after.

The weather was sunny and warm, with many people enjoying the summer day by the water, including small children swimming nearby.

Authorities have confirmed that there is no suspicion of other individuals being involved in the incident.

This event adds to the concerning statistics, as 38 people drowned in Norway in the first half of 2023, with a total of 88 fatalities reported last year.
