An oil spill from Equinor's Njord A platform has caused significant environmental concerns along Norway's coastline.
The spill, which occurred on New Year's Eve, released 75,000 liters of crude oil into the sea.
Oil clumps have since been found along the coasts of Trøndelag and Nordland, raising alarms about potential damage to vulnerable seabird habitats as nesting season approaches.
Authorities, including the Norwegian Environment Agency, have called for urgent cleanup efforts, with 180 personnel, drones, and vessels mobilized to address the crisis.
Environmental groups like Greenpeace and Naturvernforbundet have filed legal complaints against Equinor, citing negligence and risks to biodiversity.
Residents are urged to report oil sightings but avoid handling the clumps themselves.
Equinor has pledged to investigate the incident and prevent future occurrences.
