The Norwegian political party Høyre is proposing a renewed push for oil exploration in contested maritime areas off Nordland and Troms.
The party's program committee has suggested opening the 26th licensing round and facilitating gas transport from the Barents Sea.
They also aim to conduct impact assessments for reopening Nordland VI and evaluating Nordland VII and Troms II, focusing on biodiversity and vulnerable ecosystems.
This move comes despite previous opposition from parties like Venstre and KrF, and the current red-green government, which have not pursued oil activities in these sensitive regions.
Høyre's program for 2025-2029 will be finalized at their national meeting next March.
