Night trains on the Nordlandsbanen railway have been suspended indefinitely due to a shortage of locomotives.
This disruption follows a tragic accident on October 24, where a train derailed after hitting a rockslide, resulting in the death of the train driver and injuries to four others.
The accident has exacerbated the existing shortage of locomotives, as older models require frequent maintenance.
SJ Norge, the train operator, has announced that only daytime services will continue, with no alternative transport for night routes.
Efforts are underway to lease additional locomotives, but a solution is not expected before the end of the year.
The affected railway section between Bjerka and Mo i Rana is anticipated to reopen by late November, pending necessary repairs and safety checks.
