A tragic train derailment occurred on the Nordlandsbanen railway in Norway, resulting in one confirmed death and several injuries.

The incident happened between Bjerka and Mo i Rana, where a landslide caused the train to derail.

Emergency services, including helicopters, were quickly dispatched to the scene, and a catastrophe alarm was raised by Helgeland Hospital.

The train, carrying around 90 passengers, was traveling from Trondheim to Bodø when it struck a large rock on the tracks.

Passengers described the experience as terrifying, with some having to kick open doors to escape.

The police and rescue teams are working to assess the situation and ensure all passengers are accounted for.

The railway line remains closed as investigations continue.
