Massive Egg Recall Over Vitamin D Levels

Published: 2025-02-08

Nortura has recalled over 10 million eggs due to dangerously high levels of vitamin D caused by a feed production error.

Consuming excessive vitamin D can lead to health risks, prompting the recall of more than 670 tons of eggs.

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority and Nortura have confirmed the scale of the issue, with detailed lists of affected products made public.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Poison Information Center has received over 100 inquiries from concerned consumers, though no cases of poisoning have been reported so far.

Experts advise seeking medical attention if symptoms appear within a week of consuming the affected eggs.
