Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Alfalfa Sprouts

Published: 2024-11-29

Norway is currently facing a national salmonella outbreak, with 23 confirmed cases across nine counties.

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority suspects organic alfalfa sprouts as the source of the infection.

Consumers are urged to discard any alfalfa sprouts purchased in the last three weeks, including mixed products like sandwiches and salads containing the sprouts.

Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and fever.

Norske Spirer AS, the producer, has initiated a recall of all products containing these sprouts.

Authorities warn that the outbreak may spread further, emphasizing the importance of food safety measures.
