Flu Outbreak Hits Record Highs

Norway is experiencing its largest flu outbreak since before the COVID-19 pandemic, with infection rates still climbing.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) reports that 33% of recent tests confirm influenza, the highest activity since the 2017-2018 season.

Children and teenagers, particularly those aged 5-14, are the hardest hit, with entire school classes affected.

Hospitals are also seeing a surge in flu-related admissions, with nearly 690 cases reported in a single week.

FHI warns that the peak of the outbreak may not yet have been reached and urges high-risk groups, including the elderly, to get vaccinated.

Symptoms include fever, body aches, and respiratory issues, and the illness typically lasts 7-10 days.

Experts emphasize the importance of hydration and seeking medical advice if symptoms worsen.
