Vocational education is gaining popularity across Norway, with several counties reporting record-high application numbers.
In Nordland, 63% of applicants to upper secondary schools have chosen vocational programs, marking a steady rise for the third consecutive year.
Similarly, in Rogaland, nearly 58% of students have prioritized vocational studies, with technology and industrial subjects leading the way.
Østfold also sees a strong preference for vocational tracks, with 55% of first-year applicants opting for these programs.
Meanwhile, traditional academic tracks like studiespesialisering are seeing a decline in some regions, though exceptions like Kristiansand Katedralskole Gimle in Agder remain popular.
This trend highlights a growing interest in practical, career-oriented education among Norwegian youth.
