Olaug Bollestad Steps Down from Politics

Published: 2024-09-05

Olaug Bollestad, former leader of the Christian Democratic Party (KrF) in Norway, has announced she will not seek re-election to the Norwegian Parliament.

This decision follows her recent resignation as party leader amid internal conflicts and a prolonged sick leave.

Bollestad, who has been on sick leave since June, extended her leave until the end of September.

Despite the controversies surrounding her leadership style, she stated that her decision was not influenced by these issues but rather by her understanding of the current political landscape.

Bollestad expressed gratitude for the support she received over the summer and emphasized her commitment to fulfilling her duties as a representative for Rogaland until her term ends in 2025. Dag-Inge Ulstein has stepped in as the acting leader of KrF following her departure.
