Kjersti Stenseng Steps Down

Kjersti Stenseng, one of the most influential figures in Norway's Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet) over the past decade, has announced her decision to step down as party secretary.

Stenseng, who has held the role since 2015, stated that her departure is not due to external pressure but a personal choice to allow for renewal within the party.

She emphasized the need for fresh energy and ideas as the party faces historically low poll numbers.

While she ruled out running for parliament, Stenseng expressed openness to exploring other opportunities outside politics.

Her decision comes ahead of the party's April congress, giving ample time for a successor to be chosen.

Party leader Jonas Gahr Støre praised her contributions and confirmed their continued collaboration until the congress.

This move has sparked discussions about potential further changes in the party's leadership.
