Norwegian Parliament Demands Answers on Secret PST Report

Published: 2024-10-08

The Norwegian Parliament is demanding answers regarding a secret report on the Police Security Service (PST) that has been withheld by the Ministry of Justice.

The report, revealed by Filter Nyheter, allegedly contains critical assessments of the ministry's management of PST under Justice Minister Emilie Enger Mehl.

Concerns have been raised about the potential weakening of PST's capabilities, especially after the national threat level was recently elevated.

Helge André Njåstad, head of the justice committee, has asked Minister Mehl to assure that PST's effectiveness remains intact.

Meanwhile, Peter Frølich, leader of the control committee, emphasized the importance of transparency, stating that the report's findings are crucial for national security.

The Parliament is considering requesting access to the classified document to better understand the situation.
