A Norwegian man in his 30s, arrested for alleged espionage on behalf of China, is not cooperating with the Police Security Service (PST).
Prosecutor Line Nyvoll Nygaard stated that the suspicion against him has strengthened, leading to a request for four weeks of detention without communication.
The man, who holds a doctorate in international relations and has studied in China, denies any wrongdoing and claims he was merely conducting research.
His lawyer, Marius Dietrichson, argues that there is no concrete evidence against him, emphasizing that he is not charged with any specific criminal act.
The man was apprehended at Gardermoen Airport after returning from China on July 2, and he has refused to be interrogated by authorities, complicating the investigation.
