The Norwegian government has proposed a new policy requiring students to pay fees for retaking exams they have already passed.
This initiative aims to increase throughput in higher education institutions.
The proposal is part of the 2025 budget, which includes a reduction of 22 million kroner in higher education funding, equivalent to the expected revenue from these fees.
The move has sparked criticism from the Norwegian Student Organization (NSO), with leader Kaja I.
Hovdenak expressing concern over the erosion of the principle of free education.
The proposal has been met with resistance, highlighting the ongoing debate over education funding and accessibility in Norway.
