Rising Need for Christmas Aid

As Christmas approaches, many families in Norway are struggling to make ends meet.

Christina Lie, who offered help to struggling families through an online ad, received over 130 requests for assistance.

She has managed to support seven families so far but emphasizes that poverty is a societal issue that individuals alone cannot solve.

Organizations like "Gi en jul" and the Salvation Army are stepping in, providing meals and gifts to families in need.

However, the demand for aid has surged this year, with many requesting basic necessities like winter clothes and toiletries.

Despite the challenges, there is a growing spirit of generosity, with initiatives like wish trees in Ålesund and Kristiansund seeing strong participation from donors.

Yet, the reality remains stark: many families face a bleak holiday season, highlighting the urgent need for systemic solutions to address poverty.
