Rescue Operation in Skagerrak

Published: 2024-12-07

A Norwegian fishing boat found itself in distress in the Skagerrak strait, halfway between Norway and Denmark, after taking on water and losing propulsion.

The Norwegian Joint Rescue Coordination Centre responded promptly, deploying two rescue helicopters from Sola and Denmark to the scene.

Two crew members were airlifted to safety, while the remaining two stayed aboard to manage the situation with additional pumps.

The rescue vessel "Erling Skjalgsson" from Farsund is en route to assist, and a tow boat is expected to bring the vessel to shore.

The situation is currently stable, with no injuries reported among the crew.

The operation is being conducted in Norwegian waters, with Norwegian authorities leading the effort.
