Record Funds Raised for Child Dementia

Published: 2025-03-23

A groundbreaking fundraising campaign inspired by the NRK series "Team Pølsa" has raised over 8 million kroner for child dementia research.

The series, featuring 13-year-old Syver Blindheim and other youths with disabilities, has captivated viewers and brought national attention to this rare condition.

Syver, who became blind at age six due to juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (JNCL), has inspired many with his resilience and determination.

The funds will support research at NTNU and Oslo University Hospital, where scientists are developing innovative treatments using lab-grown mini-organs.

Professor Magnar Bjørås, leading the research, expressed gratitude, saying the donations provide new hope for breakthroughs.

Syver’s family, overwhelmed by the response, hopes this effort will pave the way for future treatments and greater awareness of rare diseases.
