Oslo's Utdanningsetaten has proposed closing five schools—Trosterud, Maridalen, Sørkedalen, Nordpolen, and Møllergata—due to declining student numbers and financial constraints.
The closures are part of a broader plan to save 20 billion NOK by 2045, which also includes halting several planned school construction projects.
The affected students will be relocated to other schools, with officials promising smooth transitions.
The proposal has sparked criticism from opposition parties and local communities, who argue it will disrupt neighborhoods and harm educational access.
Public consultations are open until May, with a final decision expected in December.
