Norway Braces for Autumn Travel Surge

Published: 2024-09-27

As the autumn holiday season kicks off in Norway, both road and air travel are expected to see significant increases in traffic.

Statens vegvesen has issued a warning to motorists, urging them to check weather and traffic updates and ensure their vehicles are equipped for potentially snowy conditions, especially in mountainous areas.

The agency emphasizes the importance of attention on the road, noting that inattention contributes to one-third of fatal accidents.

Meanwhile, Oslo Airport is preparing for a surge in passengers, with over 95,000 expected on the busiest days.

Avinor, the state-owned company managing Norway's airports, advises travelers to prepare thoroughly for their journeys, including checking travel documents and transport schedules.

Popular travel destinations include London, Copenhagen, and warmer locales like Gran Canaria, as many Norwegians plan both domestic and international trips during the holiday period.
