Winter Tires Urged as Snow Hits Norway

Published: 2024-09-28

As snow blankets parts of Norway, drivers are urged to switch to winter tires.

The Meteorological Institute has issued multiple snow warnings, predicting up to 20 cm of snow in mountainous regions, including parts of Trøndelag and Sør-Norge.

With the onset of autumn holidays, many are planning trips to the mountains, where winter conditions are expected.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration strongly advises motorists to equip their vehicles with winter tires to ensure safety on icy roads.

Experts recommend waiting until temperatures drop before switching to winter tires, as summer tires offer better grip in warmer conditions.

However, with snow already falling, immediate action is necessary for those traveling to affected areas.

Drivers are also encouraged to check weather forecasts and road conditions before setting out.
