Published: 2024-11-17

A significant landslide occurred over Riksvei 7 in Nesbyen, Buskerud, early Sunday morning, prompting the evacuation of six residents from two homes.

The landslide, which stretched approximately 400 meters in length and 30 meters in width, did not result in any injuries or damage to buildings.

Local authorities, including police and emergency services, responded swiftly, utilizing helicopters to assess the situation and assist in evacuations.

The road, a crucial route between Eastern and Western Norway, is closed for at least a day, with detours via Fv 287 Eggedal or E16 Fagernes.

The cause of the landslide is under investigation, with a geologist expected to examine the site.

Despite the disruption, the community remains safe, and no further landslides have been reported.
