The Russian consulate in Kirkenes has been closed following a demand from Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reduce the number of diplomats.
This move, confirmed by spokesperson Ragnhild Simenstad, is not an expulsion but part of ongoing diplomatic discussions between the two countries.
The closure's permanence remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in Oslo announced that only two diplomats will remain in the city.
The consulate, which opened in 1993, has temporarily halted its services, citing Norway's requirement for a diplomatic reduction by October 17.
