A demonstration by the controversial group Stopp Islamiseringen av Norge (SIAN) in Oslo turned chaotic as tensions flared between SIAN supporters and counter-demonstrators.
The event, held outside Islam Net's premises during Friday prayers, saw SIAN reportedly setting a Quran on fire, prompting a strong reaction from the crowd.
Police intervened with tear gas to disperse the counter-demonstrators, who were attempting to breach barriers and were throwing stones.
The police reported that three individuals were arrested for stone-throwing.
SIAN's actions have been criticized for inciting hatred, while Islam Net's leader, Fahad Qureshi, emphasized the importance of peaceful resistance to such provocations.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions and the challenges of maintaining public order during such polarizing events.
