Støre Declares FrP Main Rival

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has identified the Progress Party (FrP), led by Sylvi Listhaug, as the Labour Party's (Ap) primary opponent in the upcoming election.

This marks a shift from previous years when the Conservative Party (Høyre) was seen as the main rival.

Støre criticized FrP's policies on welfare, taxes, and immigration, arguing they could harm social cohesion and increase inequality.

Ap leaders also acknowledged the need to better connect with younger voters, where FrP currently holds an edge.

Støre admitted the government has struggled to address public concerns over energy prices and economic insecurity but emphasized recent efforts to stabilize electricity costs.

The Labour Party aims to present itself as the defender of social welfare and unity in the face of FrP's contrasting vision.
