Frp Surges Ahead in Norwegian Polls

Published: 2024-09-07

In a surprising turn of events, the Progress Party (Frp) has emerged as Norway's largest political party according to a recent poll by Nettavisen.

The poll shows Frp leading with 21.9% support, surpassing both the Labour Party (Ap) at 21.4% and the Conservative Party (Høyre) at 21%.

This shift comes as Frp leader Sylvi Listhaug criticizes Ap and Høyre for becoming too similar, particularly in their energy, climate, and tax policies.

Listhaug argues that Frp offers a distinct alternative focused on reducing taxes, enhancing public safety, and cutting government waste.

Despite the poll's results, Høyre's deputy leader Henrik Asheim remains optimistic, noting that the overall trend still favors a conservative majority.

With the general election over a year away, these numbers highlight a dynamic political landscape in Norway.
