Skjalg Fjellheim, a seasoned journalist and former editor, has been appointed as the new state secretary in Norway's Ministry of Finance, serving under Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum.
Fjellheim, who has extensive editorial experience with outlets such as NTB, NRK, and Nordlys, will replace Lars Vangen, Vedum's long-time advisor.
Vangen, who has been a key figure in Vedum's team for over a decade, is transitioning to a new role as a business policy chief at Norgesgruppen, a major grocery chain.
Fjellheim's appointment is notable given his previous critical stance on government policies, including those of Vedum.
This change marks a significant shift in Vedum's advisory team, as Fjellheim brings a fresh perspective from his recent role in communication and public relations at Helse Nord.
