Severe Flooding Hits Hvitsten, Akershus

Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Hvitsten, Akershus, leaving residents stranded and local infrastructure damaged.

The downpour, described as "extreme" by local officials, began around noon on Saturday, quickly transforming roads into rivers.

Frank Tinmannsvik, a local resident, reported being unable to leave his home due to floodwaters blocking his driveway.

The mayor of Vestby, Tom Anders Ludvigsen, noted that this level of flooding is unprecedented in the area.

Meteorologists have issued a yellow warning for further heavy rain and lightning across Eastern Norway, advising residents to take precautions against potential flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

As the situation develops, emergency services are actively working to manage the flooding and assist affected residents.
