Russian Tanker Drifts Near Norwegian Coast

Published: 2024-07-31

The Russian tanker "Vladimir Rusanov" has been spotted drifting along the gas pipeline to Nyhamna in Norway over the past few days.

Traffic data from BarentsWatch indicates that the vessel has been moving northward along the Norwegian coast, with recent reports confirming it was near Måløy.

The ship experienced engine problems earlier this week, prompting authorities to monitor its movements closely.

Silje Berger from the Norwegian Coastal Administration stated that while there is no immediate danger, they are keeping a watchful eye on the situation.

The tanker is reportedly heading to Murmansk, and the authorities are prepared to assist if further issues arise.

This incident follows a similar occurrence involving the Russian icebreaker "Nikolay Chiker" earlier this month, raising concerns about Russian maritime activity near Norway.
