Rare Comet A3 Dazzles Skywatchers

Published: 2024-10-17

Skywatchers in Norway are witnessing a rare celestial event as Comet A3, also known as Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, makes its first and last appearance near Earth.

This extraordinary comet, visible to the naked eye, is creating a buzz among astronomers and enthusiasts alike.

According to astronomer Håkon Dahle, this is the most spectacular comet visible in Norway in 17 years.

The comet, which has never passed Earth before, will soon change its trajectory and disappear from the inner solar system forever.

Enthusiasts like Jon-Einar Sørlien and Øivind Boge have captured stunning images of the comet, describing it as a bright fireball with a long tail.

Dahle advises stargazers to look westward after sunset for the best view, as this unique opportunity will not occur again.
