Young homebuyers in Oslo face an uphill battle as housing prices remain out of reach despite government efforts to ease financial requirements.
The reduction of the equity requirement from 15% to 10% has had minimal impact, according to Eiendom Norge.
For a property priced at 3 million NOK, the equity needed has dropped from 450,000 NOK to 300,000 NOK.
However, with almost no homes available under 3 million NOK in Oslo, the changes offer little relief.
Experts argue that without financial help from parents, first-time buyers are effectively locked out of the market.
Henning Lauridsen of Eiendom Norge emphasizes that the Oslo housing market remains inaccessible for most young buyers, even under the new rules.
