Norway Braces for Treacherous Ice

Published: 2025-02-19

A yellow warning for icy conditions has been issued by the Meteorological Institute for parts of Norway, including Østfold, Trøndelag, and Nord-Norge.

Rain is expected to freeze on cold surfaces, creating hazardous roads and walkways from Thursday morning through Saturday.

The warning highlights that the ice may be difficult to spot, urging both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and plan for extra travel time.

In Østfold, the risk is highest late Thursday night, while Trøndelag and Nord-Norge could see icy conditions earlier.

January and February are peak months for road accidents in Norway, with over 110,000 car damages reported in early 2024 alone.

Experts advise checking road conditions and adjusting driving habits to ensure safety.
