Published: 2024-10-01

Residents in the Sola area of Rogaland are being advised to keep their distance from a wandering moose that has been spotted near Stavanger Airport.

The moose, which is believed to belong to the Sandnes region, has been seen in various locations, including Kjerrberget and Bærheim.

Randi Storhaug, an advisor for agriculture and environment in Sola municipality, assures that the situation is under control, with a team of skilled hunters and wildlife contacts ready to intervene if the moose poses a threat by entering urban areas like Sola center or Røyneberg.

For now, the moose has not caused any traffic issues, and it is unlikely to enter the airport premises.

Storhaug emphasizes the importance of maintaining a safe distance from the animal to avoid any potential risks.
