A tragic house fire in Sandnessjøen on Monday morning claimed the life of a woman in her 80s.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze by a passerby and quickly arrived at the scene.

Firefighters entered the burning home and rescued the woman, who was given life-saving first aid by paramedics before being transported to the local hospital.

Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, and the woman’s family has been informed.
