Jan Helge Andersen will face a new trial in the Baneheia case, as decided by the Gulating Court of Appeal.
Andersen, previously sentenced to two years in prison for the murder of 10-year-old Lena Sløgedal Paulsen in 2000, appealed the decision.
This comes after he served 19 years for the murder of 8-year-old Stine Sofie Sørstrønen.
The court's decision to reopen the case is not unexpected, as it is rare for a murder case to be denied an appeal.
The retrial will also address civil claims against Andersen, who was ordered to pay compensation to Paulsen's parents.
The case has been a significant emotional burden for the victims' families and has deeply affected the community.
