Activist Faces Trial Over Protest

Carina Sarah Bull Tessand, a 42-year-old activist, is set to face trial in Oslo for following politician Sylvi Listhaug while chanting slogans during a pro-Palestine demonstration in March 2024. Tessand and two other women are accused of "attacking the functioning of high state organs," a charge she denies, claiming her actions fall under free speech.

The incident, which lasted about ten minutes, included chants like "Frp, hear, children in Gaza are dying.

" Listhaug described the event as "disturbing and threatening," while Tessand insists it was peaceful and empathetic.

A support rally for the accused women was held recently, highlighting concerns over freedom of expression.

Tessand, who has a long history of activism, says she will appeal if convicted.
