A serious workplace accident occurred at the E39 construction site in Lyngdal, Agder, when a truck collided with a lift inside a tunnel.

The lift, carrying a worker, was struck by the truck, causing the worker to fall from a height of up to five meters.

The worker sustained severe injuries and was transported to a hospital in Oslo after initial treatment in Kristiansand.

The truck driver, a foreign man in his late 50s, suffered minor injuries and is under investigation for traffic law violations.

Authorities, including the police and labor inspection teams, are examining how the truck entered the well-marked construction area.

The site remains closed as investigations continue.
