Vandalism Mars Vålerenga's Reputation

Published: 2024-10-26

A subway car was vandalized with graffiti and stickers before the Vålerenga vs.

Stabæk match, causing significant disruption.

The incident, which included setting off flares that triggered a fire alarm, led to the train being evacuated and taken out of service for cleaning and repairs.

Sporveien, the public transport operator, estimates that vandalism costs them around 30 million kroner annually, funds that could otherwise enhance public transport services.

Vålerenga's security chief, Ronnie Bergheim, expressed regret over the actions of a few individuals, emphasizing that such behavior does not reflect the broader supporter culture.

The club is in discussions with supporter groups to address the issue, and they plan to ban identified vandals from future games.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges in managing fan behavior and maintaining the club's reputation.
