Two Norwegians Arrested in Colombia Drug Bust

Published: 2024-07-31

Two Norwegians have been arrested in Colombia as part of a major international drug trafficking operation.

The first, a Norwegian-Iranian man in his 40s known as "El Profesor," is accused of leading one of the world's largest drug smuggling organizations, allegedly coordinating routes for cocaine from South America to Europe.

He was apprehended at Bogotá airport, while the second suspect, a man in his 50s, was arrested in Barranquilla.

Both are linked to powerful criminal groups, including the Gulf Clan and the notorious Sinaloa cartel.

The arrests are part of Operation "Mentor," which has seen over 50 arrests across multiple countries, including Norway.

Norwegian police are aware of the situation but cannot comment further due to the ongoing investigation led by Spanish authorities.
