Norway is set to experience a spectacular display of the Northern Lights over the coming nights, with the phenomenon expected to be visible from the northern regions all the way to the southern tip of the country.

Pål Brekke, a space research expert at the Norwegian Space Center, explains that the current solar activity is unusually high, nearing a peak not seen in 20 years.

This heightened activity increases the likelihood of seeing the aurora borealis as far south as Kristiansand.

The KP-index, which measures geomagnetic activity, is currently between 5 and 6, indicating strong auroral activity.

With clear skies, residents across Norway have a good chance of witnessing this natural light show.

The warm September temperatures in the north mean that viewers can enjoy the spectacle in comfort, a rare treat for this time of year.
