Queen Sonja of Norway, aged 87, has been admitted to Rikshospitalet for a pacemaker operation following an episode of atrial fibrillation during a ski trip.
The procedure, scheduled for January 16, is considered routine and low-risk, according to cardiologists.
The Queen, known for her love of outdoor activities, was briefly hospitalized earlier in Lillehammer for observation.
King Harald reassured the public, stating, "She is doing well, I believe.
" The palace has confirmed that Queen Sonja will remain in the hospital for one to two days post-surgery.
