Norway's train system is facing a severe crisis, with punctuality and regularity far below targets.
Bane Nor, responsible for the country's rail infrastructure, reports that only 57 out of 247 days this year have seen trains running on time.
This issue is particularly acute on weekdays, affecting daily commuters.
The main causes include outdated signaling systems and insufficient maintenance, with a complete digital overhaul not expected until 2034. Overcrowded trains and reduced road access to Oslo exacerbate the problem, leaving passengers frustrated and sometimes requiring medical assistance due to the stressful conditions.
Despite efforts, the situation remains dire, with no clear solution in sight.
