The Norwegian government has intervened to allow ten medical students from Gaza to enter the country for an exchange program at the University of Oslo.
Initially denied entry by the Utlendingsdirektoratet (UDI), the students faced rejection due to concerns that they might not return to Palestine after their studies.
However, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized the urgent need for healthcare professionals in Gaza, where the health system has been devastated by ongoing conflict.
The decision to grant visas is seen as a small but significant step towards supporting the rebuilding of Gaza's healthcare infrastructure.
The students, who have been unable to study for months, are eager to complete their education and return home to help their community.
The University of Oslo is prepared to welcome them, with plans in place for their integration into the academic environment.
