The Norwegian government has proposed a new fixed-price electricity plan, called "Norgespris," to provide stability amid fluctuating energy costs.
Under the plan, households can opt for a fixed rate of 40 øre per kilowatt-hour, with the state covering costs above this threshold.
However, a consumption cap is being debated, with options ranging from 3000 to 5000 kWh per month.
The plan, set to launch in October 2025, also includes provisions for vacation homes and district heating users, addressing earlier criticisms of exclusion.
While some praise the predictability it offers, critics argue it benefits wealthier households and fails to address broader energy market issues.
The proposal is now open for public consultation.
