Norway Approves Controversial Wolf Hunt

The Norwegian government has approved the culling of 12 wolves within designated zones, including the Risberget-Ulvåa, Boksjø, and Fjornshöjden territories.

This decision follows recommendations from regional wildlife boards, despite strong opposition from environmental groups like Naturvernforbundet, which called the move "scandalous.

" The culling, set to occur between January 1 and February 15, aims to address concerns from local communities and livestock farmers.

Critics argue the decision violates international agreements and scientific advice.

Currently, Norway and its border areas with Sweden are home to an estimated 39 to 50 wolves.

The government maintains that the cull aligns with its policy of balancing conservation with local needs.
