Nationwide Protests Against Wind Power in Norway

Published: 2024-09-17

Motvind Norge, an organization opposing wind power development, has launched a nationwide protest by blocking access to several wind farms across Norway.

This coordinated action, taking place in locations such as Tysvær, Sandnes, and Telemark, aims to peacefully demonstrate against what the group perceives as the government's threat to reintroduce coercion in wind power cases.

In addition to these blockades, Motvind Norge has encouraged Norwegians to light beacons as a traditional signal of danger, hoping to amplify their message against wind power expansion.

The leader of Motvind Norge, John Fiskvik, emphasizes that this movement reflects a widespread national sentiment against wind power, urging the authorities to reconsider their stance.

This protest marks the sixth year of such actions, highlighting the persistent opposition to wind energy projects in the country.
