Moxnes Ousted from Rødt's Top Oslo Spot

Published: 2024-10-01

Bjørnar Moxnes, former leader of the Norwegian political party Rødt, has been removed from a top position on the party's Oslo list for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The nomination committee has recommended Seher Aydar and Sofia Rana for the first and second spots, respectively.

Moxnes, who resigned as party leader last year following a shoplifting scandal, expressed his intention to contest for the second position, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with the over 3,000 members of Rødt Oslo.

Despite a minority in the committee supporting him for the second spot, the majority favors Rana, a well-known activist.

The final decision will be made at a party meeting on November 21. Moxnes, who has been a significant figure in Rødt since 2012, insists his motivation is driven by political strategy rather than personal ambition.
