Zaniar Matapour, the first person in Norway sentenced to 30 years of preventive detention for serious terrorism, has appealed his conviction.
Matapour was found guilty for a shooting incident on June 25, 2022, during Pride week in Oslo, where two people were killed and several others injured.
He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with a minimum of 20 years to serve.
Along with appealing the sentence, Matapour is also contesting the civil claims for damages, which amount to over 112 million kroner.
Victims and their representatives express disappointment over the appeal, as it prolongs the legal process and adds to the emotional burden of those affected by the attack.
The case has drawn significant attention due to its historical implications in Norway's legal system regarding terrorism.
