Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and her fiancé, Durek Verrett, have opened up about the challenges they have faced since announcing their relationship.
In an exclusive interview with Hello! Magazine, Märtha Louise revealed that the criticism has intensified, particularly due to Verrett's work as a shaman and his ethnicity.
She expressed surprise at the levels of racism they encountered, noting that some friendships were lost, but new ones were also formed.
Verrett, who will become the first Black man to marry into a European royal family, admitted that the backlash initially caused him significant distress.
Despite the hurdles, the couple feels strengthened by their experiences and are looking forward to their wedding in Geiranger.
The event, set for August 31, will be covered exclusively by Hello! Magazine, with limited access for Norwegian media.
